I finally got to see the movie Stardust this weekend. It had just come out and was at Walmart and I picked it up while I was there. It’s a very cute fun movie. I liked it a lot even if there were a couple of parts that happened and enabled me to plot read how things would come out.
I like the set-up, the way that magic works in the world beyond the wall, and the way the movie teaches the lessons that are within the story. At the risk of plot spoilering…
Once Tristan and his love-interest, Victoria, were sitting there talking about how Hubert was going “all the way to Ipswich” to buy her a ring, and he was talking about all the things he would do for her instead I realized that she was an inappropriate person for him to be with. She was so selfish and self-centered, once he talked about something that was gross that he would do and she snorted at it and threatened to leave I was mentally going, “Why are you in love with this trollop?” she’s not worthy of you. She proved this later on in the same scene because she told him that he had a week to bring her back the star or she would marry Hubert. What sort of love is that? Whoever brings me a trinket first is the one I’ll marry? Yuck.
But he sorted that out through his travels, and the progression/growing up that he went through during the movie wasn’t contrived, but made sense.
