Weekend Getaways
September 26th, 2008I think I’ve talked about going to Branson before, but perhaps it was on my other blog. I was intrigued the first time I heard about them because I had no idea there was so much to do up there. They have a theme park, I’m so used to theme parks really just being Orlando and California, that I tend not to think about their being theme parks that aren’t Disney, and are probably tons better to boot, because of that, and the New Shanghai Circus just fascinates me. I’ve always wanted to see Chinese acrobats other than on the television, because their talent is completely awe-inspiring, especially to me who can barely stand up some times.
I’d love to be able to have a vacation right now. Hubbie and I are storing up time so we can go to his brothers wedding next year, it’ll be the first vacation we’ve had since our honeymoon in 2005. I’ve been hoping to do other weekend getaways, but finances are horrendous due to budget cuts at his department; the guys aren’t getting over time any more and there’s not going to be a raise this year either, and previous to this they’ve been really great about that sort of thing. It’s comforting to know they’re just as ticked that they can’t help us out as we are that we’re kinda being shafted…but you do what you have to do, and I’m grateful that he still has a job, so I’m not going to complain (much).
We’ll get things sorted. I’m also grateful that I can look at this places and plan for when we do have money. Think of the shows that we could see, that we could go to theme parks, how much fun that would be now that I’m not pregnant and the munchkin is getting older. He’s such a daredevil I bet he would absolutely love roller coasters.
