Yard Work
September 20th, 2008With the past hurricanes in our area, such as they were, we did actually get some damage to our property, in the form of a tree that was in the side yard near the fire pit falling over. We borrowed my father-in-law’s chainsaw to cut it down, but in the end my husband was able to do the work just with brute force.
We had another tree that looked as though it was falling over due to the winds, and one of our friends speculated that if we tied the tree to one of our cars we could pull it over. Yeah–no thanks! With our luck we’d pull the tree onto the house or the car, or it would even bounce off the house and crush the car, that would take a bit more than a few car parts to fix. However when we actually went into the jungle to look at the tree it turned out it was just leaning not uprooting, so it’s fine. It’s actually solidly in the ground and not in danger of destroying anyone or anything least of all our new neighbors. So, that’s a relief.
Now we just need to chop up the fallen tree, now that it’s not in danger of crushing the air conditioner. Thankfully we have a fire pit right there! Who’s coming over for a cook-out? Bring your own graham crackers and chocolate, we still have plenty of marshmallows to make smores!
