My Therapy
August 13th, 2008I’m still not sure about the future of my therapy but I did get to talk to my therapist the other day. The secretary from her office called me because she’d gotten a note about my benefits expiring and given the notations in my record that the primary office had put in she wasn’t clear on whether or not they’d told me.
When she found out I had been told but hadn’t talked to my therapist herself yet she went and got the therapist right away.
To make a long story short, my therapist is going to bat for me, which makes me exceedingly happy. She’s going to try and get permission to see me at a reduced rate and lower the existing outstanding bill. She’s also going to work with my psychiatrist to get messages to Blue Cross, Blue Shield, dictating my full diagnosis and the negative impact on my health as a whole that being without treatment until January would provide.
I mentioned the parity laws to her, and she expressed interest given she hadn’t heard much more about them than in passing so I have to send her the information that I posted up yesterday so that she can make sure that everyone in their office and various colleagues are also advocating for this bill.
Things aren’t 100% but they’re greatly improved.
Thank you for all the well wishes.

I’m really glad things are looking up for you. I just had a hell of a time at Planned Parenthood earlier today trying to get my birth control; I have to say, the people at the clinic in Seattle were 100% nicer and more professional than the people here. I had to call the clinic after getting home from my appointment so THEY could call the pharmacy and give them the info that the clinician who wrote the prescription forgot to write…etc…etc…and the receptionist I spoke to, instead of asking “what’s your name,” snapped “WHO ARE YOU?”
Ugh, seriously.

I hope everything gets pushed through quickly so you can continue with therapy since you think you’re making strides with it. I’m glad your therapist is “going to bat” for you.

I’ve heard horror stories about Planned Parenthood before, although I’ve never been there. I know the Health Department was pretty hairy when I was dealing with them after I had the munchkin.
