I haven’t really considered mental illness until recently when my mum was diagnosed with dementia. It’s hearbreaking to see what it has reduced her to, and my dad is suffering too, but in a different way. The woman he has been married to for 60 years has gone, and in her place a stranger. Anything that helps promote awareness and improves the lot of the mentally ill, and their relatives, is a good thing.

Yeah, that’s exactly what I did, I added a bit more into the text and sent the letter. Apparently it went to three people, the two senators, and I think the governor’s office too, so we’ll see what happens.
