This year we expected to have a BBQ at the future in-laws house, but my dad-in-law-to-be is apparently tearing the place apart in a futile attempt at organization. There's no place to actually eat outside, so without a usable dining room, the plan got nixed. The fiancé and I did go to a nearby lake in the morning, though, to let our dog sniff around in a new place and scout out locations for engagement photos. It was fun, and in the evening we took a picnic to the grassy knoll across the street. No fireworks for us, but there's nothing wrong with just celebrating in your own way.
