I’m not a WOW player because I know I would get insanely addicted to the game, and we can’t afford another subscription site, so I was intrigued when a friend told me about an online RP which is similar to the old style Warcraft and Starcraft, is online and is absolutely free. Anything you buy in game even upgrades are purchased with your in-game gold no out of pocket cost from you at all.

It’s called Travian and while I haven’t done much so far, it’s really an interesting way of working and I love the way you can build things grow your village into a town and then a city. It works in real time, so you can set your guys building things in the morning before you go to work and come back and they’ll have finished and you can have them build more or you can mount armies and attack other towns. You can play as Romans, Gauls or Teutons. I opted for Romans, as my friend on the server is also a Roman. So, I figured it would be easier for us to form an alliance once I’ve leveled up a bit.

We’ll see how it goes. I’ll update more once I’ve done more than set my guys to farming and building some hiding places.
