He just ASKED

Monday, March 31st, 2008

This is pretty big, so I have to write about it. The munchkin just came up to me and said, “Eep, Mummy, eep!” and was pointing to his room. I was a bit confused for a minute because sometimes the half-words and the tiny voice, they don’t always make sense, especially when you’re distracted with six bajillion other things.

I said, “What do you want?”

“Eep!”

Then the light dawned, “Oh, you want to go to bed?”

“Uh-huh, yeah, a-bed. Peez?”

I looked at the clock, just after 8 p.m. His bed time averages around 8:30, but he was up early this morning because yesterday he went down for a nap at 4:30 p.m. and didn’t wake up again until my husband got home at 5 a.m.

So, I said, “Okay, go say na-night to Daddy then.”

He calls up stairs, “A-bye!” and dashes into his room scooping up one of his blankies on the way, and starts trying to climb into his crib. Laid down with a fuss at all. Wow…I wonder how often that’s going to happen again.

Featured Online

Monday, March 31st, 2008

Yes, that’s right. I’m featured on the website I got my hair dye from: Amphigory. Amphigory sells all kinds of fun and unusual things. They sell wigs, hair dyes, accessories and make-up.

I wrote to them thanking them for their wonderful product that I’ve gotten so much joy out of and sent them a couple of pictures and they’ve put them up on their site: check it out here. I’m fourth down!

Move Along Now

Sunday, March 30th, 2008

I would say “nothing to see here” but that’s not quite true. You can see my Technorati Profile if you’d like.

I’m sure some of you have them also. So, let me know. I’d love to exchange favorites and so on. I haven’t been networking very well in the past few months. My brain’s not been in the right gear. I had two blogs on Technorati that I don’t even have any more. Go me.

Self Portrait Sunday

Sunday, March 30th, 2008

So, here I am rocking the self portrait again this week.

Self Portrait Sunday 08/03/30

This was taken last night after Mum and I got back from taking the munchkin to a local restaurant to eat. We spent four hours (at least) yesterday re-doing my hair with Nuclear Red, Pimpin Purple and Blue from Special Effects and Paul Mitchell respectively. Hair dye. Yes.

The pink was starting to look rose and orange, so it was time to get things going again. I have to say that I absolutely love Special Effects hair dye. It’s not every dye that you can leave on your hair for almost an hour and the hair is light and fluffy and fresh and clean rather than stripped and nasty when you’re done.

See what the others are doing with their self portraits this week, by checking things out at MidLife Musings. It’s still hosted by Cass, don’t worry, but just on a different blog!

Home Improvement

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

As many of you probably know owning a house is a lot of work. We’ve been fixing up the yard recently and need to put a fence in, still. We’re probably going to have to get some air tools before we do something like that, and some fencing.

We’re trying to find a way to get things sorted out for cheap. I love to recycle materials when I get a chance, but I think we’re going to have to get things new if we want the fence to be any good. I’m looking at options online so that I can see which the best way to set things up would be. The intent is that the munchkin will have a place to play with access to the deck in the back yard and some of the yard but not the fire pit and not the road where our neighbors are sometimes not so cautious.

Three Thank Yous

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

I missed doing my thank yous on Thursday this week because I was trying to get my article finished. So, here they are now.

1. I’m thankful for friends who are willing to help out with things. We got a fire pit dug in our back yard thanks to the help of some great friends, and one has also loaned us an axe so that we can make a better and stronger start on clearing out some of the jungle.

2. I’m thankful that my son has started to pick up manners and conversation skills. That he’s actually getting the whole “listening and asking” rather than shrieking thing, for the most part, and also starting to show an interest in potty training.

3. I’m thankful that we can get by. It’s rough some times but we manage it. We have a great place to live and it’s getting better every day.

What are you thankful or grateful for?

Weight Loss

Friday, March 28th, 2008

So, is Hydroxycut what I think it is? Some kind of weight loss mechanism.

How reliable are these sorts of things? Hoodia was fairly decent for a while, but I kept forgetting to take it.

Of course the way our finances are going we’ll probably be living on ramen and things for a while, so that’ll help with weight loss…ah, the joys of being poor, but we have a roof over our heads, and we do have food on the table, that’s the main thing.

Diet in moderation and exercise is probably still going to be the best way to go, right?

I seriously dislike this time of the month

Friday, March 28th, 2008

Paying bills, is what I mean. It bites. It really does. Especially right now, but we knew it was going to be tough moving into the house, the first few months…and it is. A few months more and things should get easier.

I need to clear things out like I’ve been saying I will and put some things up for sale, get some more jewelry made, get the taxes filed. That’s the big one, the taxes. It’ll be good to be able to pay down some of the credit card bills too, that would be really nice. With the taxes I can pay off the Target card entirely and get it cut up, and then I can make a couple of double payments on the other two to get things down again, that’ll be very good.

Barter system. I start feeling like we should go back to the barter system around now.

Quiet

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

I’m going to try and be quiet today. I really need to get a good chunk of my article rattled out so that I can get things finished.

It’s looking as though I’m not going to get my second interview responses, but I got a lot of information from the first person that I interviewed so I’ll work with what I have. I’m glad I remembered that my Reiki teacher had worked for call centers.

I hope that everyone else is doing well.

I have quite a few pictures I’ve been meaning to share, but I keep running out of time to resize and brighten the pictures. It’s a hectic week coming up, but I need to take some time to relax.

House Things

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

We’ve been here almost three months now, it’s strange to think about. Especially as there’s certain things that we haven’t done yet. The other night was actually the first time I used the shower in our master bathroom. It has a great massaging shower head. I wish I’d tried it earlier. It would be great to have one of those shower chairs in there and just sit down and get a nice back massage.

Although that reminds me I still haven’t cashed in the gift certificate for an hour long massage that hubbie got me for Valentine’s Day. With everything going on, and the fact that the masseuse, herself, had a family emergency a little while ago it hasn’t been done. I need to sort that out.

Perhaps it will be added incentive for me to finish the last little bit I need to check on the tax forms and get those in. It’s getting close to crunch time for those, and I started them in February!!
