Happy Anniversary
March 19th, 2007Today is our second wedding anniversary. It’s so strange to me in some ways that was so long ago. This time in 2005 I think we were having panicked phone calls back and forth between my family who couldn’t get into the hall to finish set up, and our hairdresser whose Dad worked there and could get them a key so they could get in because the PD wasn’t responding, and also one of my bridesmaids and her girlfriend who was our photographer who had missed the exit off the highway and was scared she wasn’t going to make it on time.
All worked out in the end, and we had a lovely fun day, which is what it’s all about. Our photographer arrived with twenty minutes to spare. My family got in the hall and my sister was able to finish cooking the buffet we were going to have. Despite the fact that the water feature had leaked all over the floor the hall was fine, in fact the leaking water did us a favor because the night before at the rehearsal the floor was so sticky!
I never expected that two years into marriage I would have a son approaching a year old. We never thought we would have children, and had tabled the discussion until we were at least ‘five years in’ and despite the fact he’s yelling at me from his playpen this morning as he’s in disgrace for pulling the phone down after being told off four times for playing with it I wouldn’t change things for the world. We have a lot of rough times right now, finances, family health, health insurance, being down to one car, and sometimes it feels like we’re never going to see the light of day, but I know these things are going to get better, and we’ll appreciate them all the more for having weathered this and gotten through it. We have love and respect for each other, and we can joke around together, and as I’ve said before if you don’t have humor and can’t laugh at things going on you’re in a bad way. We can still do that, so I think we’re fine!
What we are going to change however is the phone set up. I think I need to get a shelf to put it on…but that’s not going to stop him from pulling on the wires, hrm…any suggestions?
