It’s been a bit of a week ;_;

We’ve had an interesting time of it this week.

Monday:
D’s car died when he was trying to leave work. It started up again when I got there to pick him up (of course) but didn’t sound healthy so we left it there, and were going to take it for repairs the next day, provided all was well, as I had been having ‘weirdness’ (contractions) all day and we were worried this meant I was going into labor, but it seems they were just more test contractions, as I’ve been having every once in a while, but rather than go for two hours pretty consistently and then stop, these were going one or two every hour or so from about 9 a.m. until about 3 p.m.
So Tuesday D took my car to work as he leaves before 5 a.m. then Dad picked me up to take his in and pick mine up, as there was a big burglary in U and D couldn’t leave the investigation to get his car in. As it turned out the mechanic was too busy to give D’s car an overhaul so we left D my car and Dad dropped me back at the apartment before he went to pick up a school bus.

Monday, again:
We received notice that we were overdue on D’s student loan payment (despite the fact that loan was suppposed to have been consolidated in with mine finally at the end of February and we’d been paying on it there also…) So, Tuesday afternoon I spent a very frustrating few hours going back and forth between the two student loan companies while they each tried to blame each other for the missing checks and kept coming up with various different things they needed before the situation could be resolved and then each time I would call back and get a different rep they would change their mind on the information that was needed. Finally after about two hours of this, and one of the companies insisting I shouldn’t be being used as the middle man, but yet wanting me to call the other company and tell them so…I went off on someone at the second company and he agreed to conference call the other company and resolve the matter. I told him given I’d been dealing with the situation for almost three hours at that point and it was now almost 5:30 p.m. I couldn’t stay on the line any more so he said we could resolve the situation the next day at my convenience (as long as my convenience was between 9 and 5:30 p.m. EST which was when he worked).

Wednesday:
The doctor’s appointment. I had printed out birthplan information and several questions I wanted to ask Dr. R some of which I had garnered from information from a place called ‘PunkyMoms which D found about a month ago, and has been really helpful to me, considering I’m rather non-mainstream and haven’t really got any equally weird and whacky Moms/Mums other than my own, who I know and was feeling a bit ‘out of the loop’, and of course I forgot them when we left to go to the doctors…but I am now on weekly visits after 4/5 so I can bring the paperwork next time. D and I did remember some of the things to ask, thankfully so I didn’t feel like a complete dufus.
Comfortingly I know that I can request for them to not bring classes of med students or visitors through the room where I am, and that also the hospital only allows two people in to the actual delivery room as guests of the mother-to-be, which is what we had wanted. Other family members can wait in the lobby area, etc. but they like to keep ‘unneccessary personnel’ to a minimum to ease stress on patient and medical personnel.
I’ve put on six pounds since the last visit. And currently I ‘measure’ 39 cm, which is a bit large, as ‘generally’ the measurements are supposed to be 1 cm for every week of pregnancy (at this point) and I’m only on week 35. Dr. R also commented that she had thought the ultrasound on 3/5 had overestimated baby’s weight given they had him at 4 lbs 15 oz, but now she wasn’t so sure. She checked back and at the previous visit I had measured 36cm and that was only week 31. We’re wondering if we just ‘build them big’ given I was almost 8lbs at birth and D was just over 8lbs, and from what MIL was saying her brother’s children were around 10lbs at birth (I’ve told baby he doesn’t have to get that big, thank you!).
Perhaps this just means we either miscounted somewhere, or he’ll be early. She did check and make sure he was head down although Dr. R didn’t say she felt he had dropped, which Mum thought he had when she saw me on Saturday. So, maybe he was just curled up a bit or something? Who knows? I do know he’s found my ribs and keeps kicking them at two in the morning ;_; She also said that size and such isn’t really an indicator on whether or not he’ll be early, especially as this is my first pregnancy, but both D and I have felt that he would be.
She asked if he was still ‘a boy’ given they never put gender on u/s reports, and we had to tell her that the tech hadn’t actually been able to see on this u/s because he was lying ‘on his stomach’ and in an awkward position. She said she might schedule a third u/s just to check on his size after the next appointment. So, other than the ‘big’ issue everything is fine. I have my next appointment on 4/5 and will be having appointments every week after that until I either go into labor or they decide they want to induce.
Driving home I got pulled over by our local police department (at the end of the street that goes to the back of the apartment complex) because my tag was expired. I had thought that when I changed my name I had renewed my tag until this year, but apparently I hadn’t. We were a little disappointed that the guy still wrote a citation despite the fact that D’s clean uniforms we had just picked up were in the back, but given the tag was 9 months expired at this point, there really isn’t much to be done. We were in the wrong, even if it was without knowledge, and I was very annoyed/upset with myself once the officer let us go. It’s the first time I’ve ever been pulled over, too, but at least there were no points charged to my license.
So, we came straight home and renewed the tag online and after I calmed down I called back the student loan place and got that fixed as well in about ten minutes.

Today:
We spent driving around catching up on all the errands that were neglected because of the traffic citation. We did laundry, picked up D’s car which is apparently fine, and the mechanic didn’t charge us anything for looking at it. The theory is that it’s ‘bad gas’ so we’re going to run some fuel injector cleaner through. We went to the court house and paid the citation, but I have to go back with ‘proof I fixed the issue’. Apparently the receipt from paying to have my tag renewed does not count as proof for some reason. Who knew? But I should get the new registration in the mail in the next few days and as long as I get it down there before the 6th of April I’m fine.

Tomorrow:
I’m going to be catching up on bills and trying to track down WIC people ’cause all I keep getting is voice mail and no one calls me back, and also seeing what I have to do to submit passed medical bills to Medicaid. Our tax return should be in by tomorrow as well ^_^
