I survived yesterday morning’s glucose test. I have to wait for Dr. R to let me know the results before I know if I passed, or if I have to have another more extensive test or just try to completely cut out sugar until the baby is born.
Wednesday was the third anniversary of D’s and my first date so we went out for a meal, partially funded by the ‘sorry you’re leaving’ gift card that I was given by one of my favorite patrons. We went to ‘Red Lobster’ which is a sea food restaurant here. I had grilled salmon, scallops and shrimp (a sampler platter) and D had shrimp pasta.
Part way through the meal we were interrupted by a call from the PD. Seargent Bl who runs the shift opposite to D’s was letting him know that they’re going to be asking him to switch shifts and to days instead of nights after the 12th. Sgt. B gains brownie points in my book because he actually called at a time D would be up. (The department will call him on things at about 10 a.m. when he’s only just gotten to sleep at 7 a.m. from shift the night before). So, after the 12th it looks as though he’ll be on days. At the moment I’m not sure if this will be good or bad. While I was working I hated him being on nights because it meant I didn’t see him much, but once he’s on days…well, at least it means if people are calling me for hypnosis or about websites there’s less chance they’ll be waking him up, so it is doing us a bit of a favor.
This did mean we had to change our next doctor’s appointment to the 24th instead of the 22nd because D would be on duty at the time of the appointment, but Dr. R’s office, as always, was more than happy to sort things out for us. We were there yesterday getting the ‘rhogam’ injection, anyway. The assistant said I will have to have another one when the baby is born.
Those are the main things going on here. Work threw me a baby shower on Wednesday which was very sweet of them. We have a lot more clothes for the baby now, and quite a few small handy things like portable changing mats, crib organizers, bottles, digital thermometers, pacifiers (dummies) and diapers (nappies). We were also given some money and gift cards, and the young couple at work who had their daughter almost a year ago gave us two car seats which Brianna had outgrown.
I’ve had to sign off on coming in to pick up my last paycheck on the 10th this morning, and the lady at HR also said I could call up on Wednesday to find out how much that would be which will give me two days extra heads-up on getting the Medicaid application filled out so that we will have insurance again for when the baby is born.
