The countdown begins…
January 30th, 2006I have five days left at work! It’s neat, and also a little scary at the same time. Keep wondering what I’m going to do with all the free time, make the most of it, I suppose, given once the baby is born I’m sure I won’t have ANY.
Yesterday Mum and Dad brought us a dining table and chairs. It’s a set that L had bought for Grandpa and then inherited back once he passed. She gave it to Mum and Dad as she recieved a bigger set and didn’t have room for both. They brought it to us knowing we didn’t have one. Will have to rearrange a little bit in that area because there isn’t quite room for one of the chairs, but there’s a lot of mobile storage there which can, well, move.
The next big project is the baby’s room which is full of half-empty boxes that we need to finish going through, and clean out finally.
I have to take a glucose test this week to make sure that I’m not getting gestational diabetes, and then I have to have an injection called ‘rhogam’. The injection is to ensure there isn’t rhesus incompatibility between me and the baby given I’m ‘o-negative’. The serum they inject me with will attach to the baby’s bloodstream and mask it from my immune system so that there’s no chance it will try to attack him.
Dr. R decided to do that now as I’m approaching 28 weeks and then wait until after 30 weeks (the next appointment in February) to schedule the second ultrasound.
