Weekend Update

December 14th, 2004

Thursday
Right after work I head up to collect K so the both of us could meet Naru-Mako for eats. I made pretty good time considering it was rush hour and there weren't that many insane drivers which was great ^_^. We met up and decided to go to Chopstix, the local Asian fusion restaurant, which has become something of a tradition. K and I both decided to have udon and tea, and to split two rolls of sushi, something which grossed Naru out a bit. We were teasing her for being unadventurous so she got pan thai when she normally gets tempura. We ate and talked and generally had a fun time, and went back to Naru's for a little bit so I could try and take some pictures of her to give the hair dresser an idea of her hair length, at least. She gave us presents as she's not sure she's going to see us before the holiday as she's going out of town to visit her fiance's family.
Then K and I went back to her house and I wrote some random junk while she was finishing up and exam and we tried out 'The Urbz' on PS-2 and wound up playing until about one in the morning.

Friday
After a bit of a late start we went to Denny's for breakfast and dropped off the last of K's finals and then headed home. Spent the evening generally being hyper, insane and watching people be idiots in the face of epic natural disaster. Calling everyone to update them on who was actually here and what was going on the next day.
There was much fun to be had tormenting both Ani and myself with cat nip.
We had modified Hawaiian pizza (chicken and pineapple) with stuffed crust, which was very good ^_^ although I found myself craving sushi for the rest of the weekend.
Right when “Day After Tomorrow” ended we saw TNT was showing 'FotR' so we watched that.

Saturday
Had a crawling start because FotR ended so late, and neither of us are particularly morning people, but I had (knowing this) set the alarm so we would get to the salon on time. I realized after we picked Jess up that I should have grabbed all the Yule packages I'd finished assembling Friday night while K was checking her email and helping Mum put together the 'wishing well' as the salon is right across the street from a post office, but oh, well. I was anticipating having to wait a half hour for Jess and being late, so was pleased that didn't happen. We actually got to the salon fifteen minutes early and wound up having to wait for Becky to get there.
Everyone in the salon went ga-ga over the dresses and we had a fun time getting hair mangled and heads fondled and so on. Becky has some great ideas and also knows a make-up specialist who works for about $15 a face ^_^ which is great as none of us are really 'girly girls' and so have no clue on make-up AT ALL.
We had wings for lunch found out despite Mari-Mom's insistance we go to a certain store for the flowers, she has no clue where it is, so went back to plan 1 on that and went to Walmart and Joann's and picked up favors for the shower and silk flowers to experiment with, and spent a bit more money than I thought we would *shakes fist at Walmart*.
The girls were having fun swishing around in the pretty dresses. I started crying when I saw them on, they're so beautiful. All these little things make the wedding 'real'.
The shower went well, it was great seeing some friends who I haven't seen for a year or so, and it was nice and small. I still felt a little overwhelmed that I was getting presents and getting photographed, but we had fun.
Then we assembled the test bouquets and generally made ourselves braindead.

Sunday
Another later start than I expected. 'nii-chan was actually up and about and called us before we were. We were at least awake, just sharing poetry back and forth and chit-chatting. 'nii-chan came to our house and we looked at the pictures from the weekend a bit and had leftover cake for breakfast (so healthy) and then took K back home. We met Naru for lunch again and brought her back to K's place so we could try on the dresses again, and goof off.
K and I talked a little bit about the cord/fasting ceremony that I would like to put in, and if she would do it or not being the 'other pagan' in the wedding party.
Waxed philosophical about a couple of eras and then came home. Very exhausted.

Realized I'd forgotten to give Mari-Mom the additional invitations/envelopes etc she called me about while I was driving up to get K on Thursday. “Why aren't you home? Where are you going?” *shakes head*
